I can’t go to church, the game is on!
Posted in Uncategorized on March 19th, 2007 by His HolinessAthletic sports are of increasing importance in American life. In fact, scheduling of our confirmation class, with only 4 students, is made difficult due to conflicts with sporting events and practices. At the same time, attendance at worship, and other faith life activities continues to sink.
Your task for this week is to consider the merits of sporting events, and of a healthy, active faith life, and then determine which will be your priority as you mature into adults.

This may sound bad, but as I get older I think that sports will become a bigger priority. Church and worship are both very important, although I don’t think that they will help me get into a college. I really want to go to college when I get older. Playing sports could be a way for that dream to happen. I play basketball, volleyball, and soccer. I almost think that I should be given at least one scholarship for this. Right now though church and confirmation are more important to me. I mean, I enjoy sports very much, but they just don’t mean as much as church does to me right now. I want to become an adult in this church. But sports will be my priority as I mature into an adult. I only think this because I am thinking of my future and what I think is going to be in it. Even if sports are my main priority, I will still try my best to keep an active faith life. Sporting events will keep me healthy and very active. Sports could even give me the lifelong dream that I’ve always wanted. This is why sports will most likely be my number one priority in life as I mature.

Well honestly a lot of people missed Church for basketball or volleyball or football or something to deal with ports and so when it becomes bigger it will effect the Church a lot more then what it is right now in this day. Ya the Church is importment and everything but some people might not think this way they might say “go to sports and you will go to church next sunday or you can miss confirmation if you havea basketball game”. just think what its going to do when it gets a lot bigger!!! I will try my hardest not to skip Church or conifrmation because of sports.

I think that church will come before sports in my future. I don’t see my athletics being great enough for scholorships. But if they were I would take the scholorships and then after college I would go to church before playing a football game. Also it may be healthier to be involved in sports but the way I see it is that you had all week to be involved in sports and Sunday is the day you relax and do what ever you want after church. So as I mature into an adult I will probably be more involved in church.
