Maryology

Recently, a group of Roman Catholic nuns in Arkansas were excommunicated by the church. Your assignment for this week is to first to define the word “excommunication,” second, find out why the nuns were excommunicated, including why what they have done is grounds for excommunication, and third state your view on this action. Do you think it was appropriate for the nuns to be excommunicated or not, and why?

  1. Matthew Says:

excomunication-cut off from communion or membership esp. in respect to a church by ecclesiastical sentence.

THey were excominicated because they were following a woman who they believe is the reincarnation of Mary.

I don’t think it is appropriate that they were excomunicated because they still believe in the same god but just have a different preacher. thats like saying were not part of the lutheran church because they don’t approve of our preacher.

Excommunication means: a formal ecclesiastical censure that deprives a person of the right to belong to a church.
The nuns got excommunicated because they were fowling a woman they thought was Mary’s reincarnation.
I don’t think it was rite to excommunicate the nuns because they still believe in the same god. But they just have a different pastor.
