Valentines day is celebrated this week. Valentine’s day has been associated with St. Valentine, and as such has been described as a Christian holiday.

Your task for this week is first to do a little bit of research and find out who St. Valentine was, why his day was celebrated as a holiday, and then to reflect on the modern celebration of Valentine’s day in the United States and explain how the modern celebration is related to the Christian one, if at all.

We will be talking this semester about the scripture, and how to apply it to your life. Accordingly your task for this week is to find a news item of your choice, and reflect on how you might be able to seek guidance from the scripture about the issues in the news item.
